Summary: An odd but fantastic Super Mario game!

You heard all the stuff about this game on how great it is. But did you know that this game wasn't originally intended to be a Mario game? In fact in 1986 in Japan the TRUE Mario sequel was more like the original classic but a bit more difficult, so Nintendo of Japan did a Mario enhanced version of a game called "Doki Doki Panic" where it had nothing to do with the Mario Brothers but added the characters from the game into our version of Super Mario Brothers 2.

But it's still a fantastic and fresh game experience! The story goes that your actually in a dreamworld called Subcon where Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Peace (a.k.a. Toadstool) where they must travel to different places of the dream world to fight against spy-guys, the flamboyant Birdo who spits eggs, killer Catcuses etc. and try to battle the evil King Wart who has imprisoned some of the dreamworld's citizens.

In this game you get to chose out of 4 characters to play such as Mario, Luigi who is the best character with the best jumps, Princess Peace who can float and Toad who is strong but has weak jumps. This game is very different than the first one as instead of squashing enemies you can stand on them and pick them up so you can hurl at other enemies. You can also pick up vegetables to throw at enemies even pluck out 1-ups or coins for a special slot game you can do for extra lives.

The graphics are very good for it's time yet it still holds up in this 3D era as the cartoonish graphics made it very good including the gameplay. It's an addictive game that never gets old and it's quite special but NOT as brilliant as the next one which revolutionized 8-bit gaming.

If you can find a copy of this game, Gameboy advanced version, Super Mario All-Stars or download it then you'll be surprised by this game.

Comment: My wife loves the original NES mario and zelda games, so I bought this for her.

She plays it for hours. Of course it was interesting to find out the history of this game and how it was originally a different game with different characters. Some people may call this a fake mario game, but my opinion is that if they had not converted this to a mario game then no one would have ever heard of it and the simple fact is that it's a unique game and is a must have for any mario fans.

Summary: Enjoyable
Comment: For a game that does not fit into the general Super Mario canon, this game is actually very enjoyable. So what if it's different and not what one expected? The game itself, regardless of story or characters, is entertaining. You get to pick which one out of 4 characters you want to play, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and you can change them every level, so you don't have to be 'stuck' with one character. The gameplay itself is solid and clean, with some entertaining characters and mini-challenge (like finding the hidden keys and getting away from Phantos before he can attack you, or finding caches of gold coins or mushrooms. It might not be the greatest Mario title, but it certainly is a solid one.

Summary: I Love this game from back in the day!
Comment: I can't lie i love super mario bros 1,2, and 3! They are a classic! Evendoe I give this 5 stars, it ain't better then super mario bros 3. My brother had this game a long time ago! It was been damage until i have to get it from amazon. They sell the best videogames old and new! Super mario rules! And i still got that regular Nintendo system. My nephew is going to love this videogame once i give it to him on his birthday! Thanks Amazon!
