Summary: Classic game
Comment: I purchased this game for a friend who has always loved the Mario Kart series. Needless to say, even after years of not having played the game, it did not disappoint.

Summary: AWESOME GAME FOR ITS TIME!
Comment: Ok, I needed to write this review because of the two morons who gave it a rating of 1 star.
The one review compares this game to the one for N64. The other review compares it to the standards of todays games. EVERYONE LISTEN! YOU CAN'T COMPARE SOMETHING OLD TO SOMETHING NEW...OF COURSE THE NEWER ONE IS GOING TO BE BETTER! IF ANYTHING COMPARE IT TO THE OTHER SYSTEMS OF THE TIME PERIOD, Game boy, Sega genesis, Game gear...NOT N64! Thats like comparing the first video game ever created, Pong, to todays Tennis games. It just won't work! This game was awesome for the time it was invented for...the early 90's. Awesome game! If you get the chance, get it for the wii or download a snes emulator and this game. You'll enjoy it!

Summary: Classic!
Comment: I can't remember the first time I played this game. 95? 96? Gee, it was so long ago. I do remember staying up one New Years' Eve (can't remember what year) with friends and playing this along with Super Mario World while the grownups were downstairs drinking and celebrating. This game might be a bit clunky compared to Mariokart 64, but the SNES version is still a solid game on its own, and was a good precursor to the 64 version.
This game is not much different from the 64 version plotwise, but of course, the controls and graphics are limited. But hey, I can't really complain. Overall, this game was well-designed and did very good within the limitations of the SNES system. Two thumbs up!

Comment: I first played this game in about 1994, a couple years after it first came out, at a friend's house. At this time Mario Kart was one of the most popular games for the SNES. My friends and I would have tournaments, though usually on battle mode. We liked Yoshi and Peach because their turning ability was better than the others, but we used Toad and Koopa Troopa during races because of their superior control at drifting.
One thing I liked about this game the most is you needed skill more than luck to win. You didn't have blue shells or clouds hampering your progress. I have to say, even now at 28, it is still one of my all time favorites.
