Summary: Extremely Easy Difficulty And Poor Story Ruins Otherwise Classic
Comment: The Spyro the Dragon franchise holds a special place in my heart for some of the best(Year Of The Dragon, final game made by Insomniac for PS1) and worst (Enter The Dragonfly for PS2) games I've ever played in my life. It's appropriate to first review the very first, which to this day is revered by the critics. And, I get what they're trying to say. There's excellent graphics for 1998, and the soundtrack, done by the drummer of The Police Stewart Copeland is great and it stays in your head all day long. (Stone Hill) I'm not sure how they managed to convince him to write music for a VIDEO GAME, but he pulled it off. Anyways, now for the cons.
Spyro The Dragon is a very, very, very easy game. And I'm not even the best gamer you will meet. I can't get past God Of War II without practically breaking a controller (I literally did break my controller while playing Ape Escape 2, an even easier game, as a little kid... Hehhehehe..). The bosses are cookie-cutter, there is literally no story behind each level (OK, you have to eventually kill Gnasty Gnorc. Besides that, there is zero story.), and the last few levels lose some of the charming design that won me over with the first world (You know, before I realized how easy this game was). The very final level, Twilight Harbor, leaves you going in a series of straight paths, with no other direction to go. It's COMPLETELY against the free-roaming, 3D gameplay that this game was praised by critics for. There are no spoilers in this game, you know what's going to happen ever since the very beginning. Gnasty Gnorc freezes all of the dragons in stone, you save the dragons, then kill Gnasty Gnorc. Proceed to celebrations. Gnasty Gnorc, a final boss, is too easy as well. You charge across another series of paths, reminiscent of Twilight Harbor, and flame his butt until he dies. The end.

Summary: Spiro the Dragon
Comment: The game is great - however, the retailer is not. This game was advertised as 'good' condition, and it was 'horrible' condition. It worked for a week, then stopped. Very disappointed in this purchase.

Summary: Great game for people of every age.
Comment: Gorgeous. A word perfect to describe this game. Having grown up with spyro as a young child, I've always loved this game. Everything about it is great. For this review though, I'm going to break the game down into 3 categories: Graphics, gameplay, and control. First off though, this is a platformer for the Playstation (Also available for the Playstation Network.) You play as a dragon, spyro collecting gems and saving dragons through 6 worlds. And without a further ado, my review.
Graphics: The graphics are basic 3D graphics with a lot of good textures and a wide range of themes. The swamp levels look scary, the desert levels look like a desert, the canyon level has well done textures for rock layers, ect. The backgrounds are fitting for the level and the graphics and level concept is varied enough to be considered a fresh and unique experiance. My score for graphics: 5/5 (For the period this game was from of course.)
Gameplay: Simple and perfect gameplay. Most is classic 3D platforming but there are a few flight based levels and boos fights. Everything is set up perfectly and is varied in design (much like the graphcs) I have little to say about gameplay besides that it all fits. My score for gameplay: 4/5 (flight levels seem a bit out of place)
Controls: Controls aren't to loose or tight. The buttons re set for controls in a way that everything will work smoothly. X for jump, Square for charge, and Circle for fire is perfect and works well. Jumps are set in a great way that you should have no problem platforming the levels. You will most likely never die due to the controls of the game. My score for controls: 5?5 (perfecto)
Closing comments: Everything is put together to make for a great Playstation game that I would highly recommend. If you have a Playstation, PS2, PSP, or PS3, you should buy/download the game. I recommend the PSN version though due to it being only 6$.
Final score: 5/5 (A must buy)
